B-Shakes Edit 2

B-Shakes Edit 2 glides gently away from B-Shakes Edit 1.  It’s in a similar vain and parent pleasing sentiment to the Glen Campbell Edit and one of my favorite James Taylor songs (wanna learn the guitar with James? click here).  I have also added an exclusive AOR Disco mix, check it out their blog as it’s full of edit ear gold.  Here’s hoping I haven’t done too much damage to the original and have taken it somewhere new and interesting.

If you want to hear the original then here’s a live version from 1970 (Aren’t those cardigans back ‘in’ again?).

Thanks again to AOR Disco for adding the track to their mighty stable.  All comments, feedback and Edit suggestions welcome ;)

Soundcloud worth $200 Million!

WOW. Soundcloud the You Tube of audio was recently valued at $200 million with a new injection of $50 million I think the social aspect and content sharing/sourcing is fantastic but there is significant room for improvement and if they don’t raise the virtual bar you can guarantee that someone else will.

Given a superior User interface and a more sensible pricing structure I would definitely consider jumping clouds. Hopefully they will spend wisely and eradicate my own medium user pet peeves:

  • Downtime – Service regularly interrupted (perhaps due to success and scalability)
  • Price – Annual storage options are very expensive when comparing to other storage/play platforms but it’s popularity locks you in…
  • Track/content – re-ordering not possible due to poor original coding design.
  • Track hiding – When your time quota is reached it auto hides the oldest upload which is a royal pain in the proverbial to get it back and organise playlist.
  • Copyright Infringement – Not really their fault but very annoying once you’ve waited and uploaded a mix and are told that it’s got one tiny element that won’t clear.  (Has happened on several occasions)

I’ll be Meldrew sure to update this post if I think of or encounter any more issues ;)

Narwhal – Champ

‘Narwhal’ is another Shakes alter ego and reserved for the liquid deep and tusky music that I intend to sparingly make in between other slower bpm’d aliases to be revealed over the coming months.  It’s been lovingly home baked in Logic Pro and still requires some final touches and professional mastering.  I’ll update this post when the final copy is ready.

Bill Shakes 25 – Bloodstone

Bloodstone (as the name suggests) was not a mix that flowed easily, it was more of a beat war for various technical reasons but has some decent tracks that are worth a listen.  Heavily laced with Crosstown Rebels releases (as they are consistently ‘whopping’ right now) it also features the new Morgan Geist alias Storm Queen track which will definitely be overplayed within nano seconds and the quirky Luv Jam on we play house music which I just had to have on vinyl.

Style wise it’s a deeper bleepier affair than the finca am radio shows but nothing too headstrong (that one is in the pipeline)…
