oldravers 1 – ‘whatuon-whereufrom’
Very soon my darling vinyl will finally be winging its way from the UK after a 5 year sabbatical and while delving into the crates in an attempted cull, I thought it was high time to kick start the oldravers Facebook group again with a little mix of some golden oldies. The mix title stems from a comical memory of the staple ‘rave hello’ and the songs emanate from an era when every weekend I was at my happiest in a convoy of cars hurtling around the M25 or through London in search of the ultimate ‘rave’ experience where my endless love of all things electronic was born (I think it was a rave on Petticoat Lane in 1989 that baptized me).
The excitement and explosive energy of this time will perhaps not be repeated for many years , it was our punk, although one wonders how much ‘nostalgia’ and too many ‘late nights’ has blurred my memory…
I decided against trying to find BUY links for this post as the songs are so old, however for any die-hard spotters who wish to track them down I suggest your first port of call is discogs.com
