Matthew Herbert Homage
Matthew Herbert with his Big Band at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona last night was awesome, a perfect balance of machines, musicians, politics and theater. Challenging in every way. A wonderful spectacle and heavenly music to my ears with traditional jazz convention sympathetically tested and twisted by the electronic Meister whose show completely engaged . Even the audience were recorded on the fly ‘live’ (among other objects such as newspapers and glasses etc.) the sample then being integrated into the final encore song. Simply marvelous and I heartily recommend going to see him in concert should you get the chance.
