Bill Shakes 19 – Moon of Mongo

Flash inspired ‘Moon of Mongo’ features an emotive electronic selection (sort of following on from Green Goose) which rarely rises above 115bpm ish and takes me to somewhere far away.I used to love the old Flash Gordon Buster Crabbe black & whites when I was a nipper with it’s sparkler powered spaceships but this mix includes some snippets from the 80′s high camp kitsch film which is so very bad it’s good.

Behind the nonsense script, special effects, sets, wooden acting, plastic monsters and Queen ‘rocking out’ there is an appealing other worldly feel that I love (and of course Brian Blessed) I can’t really explain it but ‘Moon of Mongo’ hopefully will…

The Goose that’s Green is the talk free version of my latest finca am radio show on Ibiza Global Radio which was broadcast on the 19th July 2011 and is a particular favorite of mine (featuring probably my favorite track so far this year by PsycheMagik) where the tracks are played loooong and the balearic electronic vibe is only temporarily interrupted by a couple of low fi sounding tracks from Bonobo and Four Tet.

I spent last week in Ibiza for FYBoompt! 2 at Aura Ibiza & the weekly finca am party at Sirocco Beach which acted as the perfect unwind from the previous nights madness.  Musically blissed out with some green goose tracks and sunset house sounds where wobbly handed cocktails were chinked with wonderful friends, happy days.x

‘Freeca’ is the latest finca am radio show mix for Ibiza Global Radio although here on my blog I will always post the ‘talk free’ version (you can find the radio version on the finca am mixcloud page).

I’ve really started to enjoy programming these radio shows as although there is a ‘balearic’ framework based around the finca am sound, I also get the opportunity to explore some of the more left of center musical cubby holes that I wouldn’t normally do in a more linear club set.

With the FYB presents Boompt! Ibiza parties just around the corner I’ve been listening to a lot of new music lately and have various DJ mixes doing the rounds for Finca am and FYB. Ruffled Wake was constructed with the emotive electronic in mind and follows a similar vein to the last (non radio) mix Flassy perhaps gently veering right towards the lighter deep…

Momentarily it seems I’m unable to do a mix that doesn’t feature a track/remix from the mighty Soul Clap (check their website, it’s super slick), I do hope they don’t burn out or lose the soul from over exposure as I adore their output.

Boompt! is a new monthly summer voyage of musical discovery with the FYB solar collectic visiting the magical musical paradise of Ibiza for 4 x friend fueled Boompt! parties, sharing fybeats and universal happiness.

We’ve put the space trailer and the rooferoid rack on the fybeatseeker, ready for our summer excursions to Ibiza. Situated in the idyllic countryside in north of the island our destination is Aura where we shall be taking up a monthly Thursday residency showcasing the fybeats we’ve collected in the last millennia…..
